Just a single track for you here, to remind you that genres make more fun novelty singles when they first start out. Novelty rock songs petered out over a decade or so. Rap songs went faster - five or so years. Enjoy this.

I saw this guy about two years ago MCing a turntable extravaganza at the Derby in Hollywood. It was one of the strangest shows I've ever seen, with regular scratch-tastic mashup-crazy hip-hop guys side by side with screeching noise experimentalists (AMK, Los Angeles Free Music Society), dreadlocked dub guys spinning 45s, and a dreamachine demo in the second room. He did perform his hit. Just an otherwise normal-looking black guy in a cowboy hat. Weird.
